As a key member of the Presbyterian Delivery System and Presbyterian Medical Group Informatics team, the Senior Data Analyst (EPIC):

    Supports portfolio management of reporting/analytics solutions across the business units in the Analytics Organization (AO).

  • Identifies business issues/problems, forms hypotheses, plans and conducts interviews and whiteboard sessions; performs reporting/analysis to synthesize conclusions, transforms them into recommendations, and develops a solution.

  • Leads and manages small cross functional team to implement, test and deploy the approved reporting/analytics solution in response to the business (clinical/operational/financial) needs.

  • Identifies reporting/analytics improvement opportunities and provide proactive, consultative strategic solutions.

  • Is responsible for mentoring junior analysts as well as coordinating various reporting/analytics initiatives with end business users.

  • Supports reporting/analytics projects prioritization and planning as well as cconduct due diligence concerning business implications of planned solutions.

The Sr. EPIC Data Analyst will contribute to the following types of projects:

  • Develops analytics on various hospital KPIs to share insights and opportunities with business stakeholders.

  • Develops EPIC RWB and Dashboards for clinical stakeholders.

  • Works on providing analytics from EPIC Grand Central module for hospital leadership.

  • Works to integrate disparate datasets involving utilization, bed management and patient flow metrics from Clarity and Caboodle.

  • Works closely with Analytics Organization (AO) teams to devleop BI self-service solutions for the business stakeholders.

  • Patient Flow Improvement Analytics

  • Bed Management Analytics

  • Works with the Team Lead Analyst on collaborative projects to provide analytics to leadership.

About the PDS/PMG Informatics Team:

Presbyterian Delivery System (PDS) and Presbyterian Medical Group (PMG) Informatics supports PHS with insights relating to all delivery systems operations - including hospital, emergency department, urgent care, clinic and provider productivity, financial operations, profitability and costing, supply chain, population health, and case management.

EPIC is our main reporting data source. and we utilize Business Objects, Mede Analytics, and Tableau to create insights and dashboards. External vendor tools from Premier and Mede Analytics enhance our reporting capabilities with benchmarks and peer comparisons.

PDS/PMG Informatics' value is driven through self-service analytics provided to our businesses.

Position Details:

  • Full Time - Exempt

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a data and analytics affiliate field such as Business Statistics and Analysis, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science or related.

  • Four or more years of experience in data compilation, reporting and analytics utilizing data and analytics tools.

  • Demonstrated skills in leading a team through standard processes or projects. Must demonstrate strong analytical skills/capabilities and communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Strong working knowledge and/or experience with Microsoft Office products and other analytical tools such as SAS, Business Objects, Tableau etc. Prior Business Objects, relational databases, and health care experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPIC certifications/proficiencies in one or more of the following: Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Cogito Tools Admin, Clarity Data Model, and Caboodle Data Model required.

  • High level of understanding of aspects of healthcare in hospital setting such as patient flow, bed management, and inpatient utilization management.
  • Subject matter expertise and experience developing EPIC RWB and EPIC Dashboards for clinical stakeholders.

  • SQL proficiency in authoring and reviewing coding to access data from EPIC Clarity and/or Caboodle databases.

  • Experience with analytical tools and BI systems (SQL, SAS, Tableau, Business Objects, Power BI etc.) in healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
  • Make prioritization decisions concerning individual or team tasks and assignments, maintain communications with customers to manage expectations, and escalates appropriately to management.

  • Interface with internal business units and external entities (i.e. vendors, regulatory agencies) to manage requirements gathering, maintain work plan, coordinate activities, maintain effective communication in support of reporting/analytics.

  • Manage customer requirements and identify most efficient and accurate approach to structuring solutions to complex reporting/analytics needs.

  • Present, process, analyze, interpret, and assess impact to internal and external stakeholders for cross-departmental or enterprise initiatives that are accurate, complete, timely, and effective in support of business initiatives, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Discern patterns and correlate diverse set of information, conceptualize and then translate ideas from abstract to concrete, determine appropriate level to conduct analysis, and navigate efficiently between levels of detail to transform data into an audience appropriate story that can be used to support business decisions, identify solutions to problems, or answer questions.

  • Maintain reporting/analytics foundation through coordination of business definitions, data marts and BI tools (i.e. BO), translation into technical requirements, annual maintenance for any updates, and testing to ensure accuracy.
