Requisition ID req28311 Working Title CSWR Archival Processing Specialist Position Grade 11 Position Summary

The archival processing specialist will employ archival standards and best practices to process and prepare for publication a collection of born digital files related to the sexual abuse lawsuit filed against the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. In addition to organizing the files, the processing specialist will create a corresponding finding aid for the collection. The digital files and object metadata will be added by the processing specialist to the UNM Digital Repository for public accessibility of the collection. The processing specialist will also participate in reference services and other departmental activities. The archival processing specialist will support preservation of born digital archival materials. This is a term position that will expire in 12 months.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of efficient archival process procedures and standards. Familiarity with principles of archival appraisal.
  • Familiarity with archival standards, including DACS, EAD, MARC, LCSH, and Dublin Core.
  • Project management experience, including creating processing plans.
  • Experience using ArchivesSpace or another archival content management system.
  • Experience using Bepress or another digital repository system.
  • Familiarity with current approaches to processing and describing born-digital holdings.
