Job Description

Position Purpose:This position is responsible for the administration and management of a comprehensive safety management system for transmission, distribution, and substation work. The Field Safety Coordinator will work closely with the Safety & Health Department, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practice and conditions.

Essential Responsibilities

    • Assistance with new hire general safety orientation
    • Coordination of on-site safety meetings and conducting safety training
    • Supporting incident investigation efforts
    • Conducting and documenting on-site safety audits and providing safety technical support
    • Recordkeeping and reporting
    • Promoting proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
    • Integrating safety into project plans, establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures, monitoring safety metrics
    • Supporting and coaching supervisors and employees
    • Providing feedback to encourage learning, monitoring safety compliance and creating awareness
    • Setting priorities that focus on continuous improvement

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

    • Demonstrated ability to work withIBEWunion craft personnel
    • Strong interpersonal skills are a must
    • Due to the nature of this position, extensive travel is required

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered
    • 1-3 years of construction safety experience

Work Environment

    • Must be able to remain standing approximately 50% of the time
    • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, climbing
    • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
    • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions
    • Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
