Under general supervision, exercise accounting control over university accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of accounting reports and/or reconciliations.
  • Review and approve University expenses and expenditure requests.
  • Advise the University community of the policies and procedures utilized by the Office of Business Affairs and State and Federal regulations.
  • Respond to business office inquiries from the University community.
  • Assist with the close of the fiscal year.
  • Ensure that work assignments are completed timely and accurately.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, Public Administration, CIS with an emphasis in accounting and a minimum of two years' experience directly related to the duties specified or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and application
  • Knowledge of computer-based programs to include experience with Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports.
  • Ability to balance and reconcile various types of accounts.
  • Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Work is sedentary in nature and at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
