Job Description

Position Title: Family Medicine Physician
Division: 1 Health Solutions
Location: Shiprock, New Mexico

**Position contingent upon award of contract.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties of the Family Medicine Physician include but are not limited to:

* Provide inpatient and outpatient specialist and medical services with the Internal and Family Medicine Clinic, wards and other clinical settings at Northern Navajo Medical Center

* Attend specialist clinic sessions, evaluating patient complaints, making diagnoses, designing treatment plans, educating the patient and family about their condition and initiating care.

* Prepare prescriptions accurately following Federal and U.S Public Health Service laws and policies.

o The provider shall assure appropriateness of drug therapy.

o The provider will assure that drug therapy is safe, efficacious, and cost effective.

o Standards of care developed or adopted by the professional staff of the facility shall be the criteria for appropriateness of drug therapy.

o The provider shall screen the patient health record to avoid inappropriate drug interactions and monitor patient for the appropriateness of therapy.

* Provider shall abide by all protocols, patient confidentiality, and record keeping consistent with HIPAA and Privacy Act regulation.

* Adherence to policies and quality improvement processes.

* Participate in the Northern Navajo Medical Center Family Medicine Department peer review system and make practice modifications in accordance with the peer review group's findings and recommendations.

* Participate in the Northern Navajo Medical Center performance improvement program within the scope of clinical activity. This includes working with Discharge Planning to help facilitate timely accommodation of patient needs and prompt dispositions.

* Maintain patient records in the Problem Oriented Medical Record format utilizing Patient Care Component of the RPMS computer system.

Qualifications

* The Physician shall maintain appropriate licensure and certification status through the term of this contract.

o Possess a valid, active, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

o Possess current certification by the American Board of Family Medicine

* Documentation of completion of Rheumatology, Nephrology, Dermatology and/or other sub-specialist training or fellowship of at least 2-4 years.

* Valid Drivers License from any state.

* Required Immunizations:

o Immunity to Rubella, Mumps, Measles

o Immunity to Hepatitis B series

o History of Chicken Pox (Varicella) disease or positive titer

o Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) within the last 5 years

o Documentation of receiving a TB Mantoux skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months with documentation of follow-up for a positive test.

o Other immunizations as required by NAIHS immunization policy.
