POSITION SUMMARY: With Director and Radiologists, manages and performs technical procedures in the Department of Radiology. Coordinates the day-to-day activity of patient procedures for fluoroscopy, general diagnostic, operating room, portables and ER services. Assists the PACS Administrator and IS Analyst with issues related to the operations within Diagnostic Radiology. Responsible for coordination, resources, establishment and operation of administrative and technical aspects of the following sections of Radiology: Diagnostic Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiology Support. Serves in consultant role to PMC Radiology and Orthopedic Clinic providing technical guidance and quality assurance. Functions as the Director in his/her absence.



Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management or related field from an accredited instutition. Master's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management Program (Preferred).

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). NM State License in Radiology required.

SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical and technical personnel, ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all hospital personnel. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Knowledge of PACS, RIS and HIS. Ability to work well under pressure and on concurrent, multidisciplinary projects. Proficiency in office automation systems; familiarity with specific Radiology applications such as HRM, Affinity, Insight Excel and the Internet.

EXPERIENCE: Five years radiology experience and three years managerial experience.

ENVIRONMENT:

Subject to electrical and radiation hazards. Lifting and positions of patients. Walking and standing 90 percent of the time. Office environment 10 percent of time. Employee may frequently be exposed to electromagnetic radiation as in CRTs (VDTs).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment. Walking and standing 90 percent of the time; office environment 10 percent of the time. Position requires ability to walk frequently; stand and sit for prolonged periods; see objects closely; and hear normal sounds with some background noises.

Position requires ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Individual must be able to understand and relate to specific ideas generally, several at a time, and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time. Individual must also be able to communicate in written word, using adv advanced writing skills.

Physical Effort & Hazards:

  • In the Radiology Department the hazard of scatter radiation is always present.
  • Potential back injury due to lifting of heavy patients (if applicable).
