Overview

This is a PRN position

Expected pay for this position is $43.89 - $57.45/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cardiac Sonographer III follows established policies, procedures, and performs and records Echocardiology diagnostic tests at Saint Francis Medical Center. Obtains information about normal and abnormal anatomy used to diagnosis disease. Ensures echo exams are of acceptable quality and records results, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served on their assigned units.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree

Licenses/Certifications:

Current BLS certification

Certifications in two (2) of the following three(3) certifications:

1. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with adult echocardiology specialty

2. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with pediatric echocardiology specialty

3. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with fetal echocardiology specialty OR Current BLS certification with Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) AND Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer certification (RCCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Experience:

- 1 year of training in echocardiology specific to two (2) patient populations - Professional level of knowledge of echocardiology techniques, with the ability to independently perform diagnostic echocardiograms procedures

- General knowledge of echocardiology imaging operations and therapeutic principles and procedures, and equipment operations at a level normally acquired through completion of training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s) and of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of the patient population served

- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with patients when allaying fears and eliciting cooperation, and to relay patient information to physicians and nursing personnel

- Strong analytical ability to recognize anatomic abnormalities, adjust equipment settings to appropriately target the ultrasound and identify irregularities during course of ultrasound and notify appropriate personnel

- Proven ability to prioritize and organize daily work load, while paying close attention to detail
