Job Description
Purpose: Responsible for the direct supervision of the Special Products Department and Shipping Department employees. Special Products - organizes and plans production in advance. Utilizing Lean manufacturing principles, designs, recommends process improvements to eliminate quality escapes & safety hazards, and increase manufacturing efficiency. Shipping – Plan, direct, coordinate, organize, and control all resources associated with department.

Essential Functions:   
 
  • Ensures that all work instructions and training manuals are up to date.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all department’s employees and management team.
  • Responsible for assigning work, scheduling vacations, staffing plans, employee performance reviews, motivation, and department discipline.
  • Responsible for ensuring all department employees are trained to perform the job functions of the department. To include cross training cross training to cover absences i.e. employee vacations, sick days, or increased workload/demand.

  • Utilizing the company’s document management system, ensure that all shipping documents are recorded daily. Responsible for insuring that monthly matric are up to date.
  • Responsible for product packaging, labeling, and shipment preparation to ensure our products arrive correctly and undamaged at our customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes, in Special Products and in Shipping/Packaging, are free of safety hazards.
  • Ensures that employees follow company safety rules and utilize safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
•     Participates in safety Committee assignments
•     Responsible for investigating all accidents, to determine the root cause and     implement corrective action.
  • Shut down unsafe equipment and isolate department safety hazards till repaired. Verify repair prior to employees resuming work.
  • Department housekeeping / cleanliness, product storage and organization, process Purchase Order Requisitions for raw materials and supplies, lean 5S, report inventory transactions to ensure accurate perpetual inventory.
  • Supervise accuracy of department monthly/quarterly physical inventory. 


Non-essential Functions
 
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions and still have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records and reports.
  • Skill in reasoning and problem solving.        
  • Must have communication skills.


Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or industrial industries.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude, ability to plan work schedules, works effectively with all employees.
  • Experience with MRP system.

Education:
 
  • High School Diploma, some College preferred.



Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:

Salaried Exempt, no travel
