Overview

SMS Data Product Group, Inc is seeking a Systems Administrator for our C4 contract at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. The ideal candidate provides server hardware, SAN, operating system and application support to the DOD user community by administering and engineering a high performance and reliable infrastructure. The Systems Administrator should have experience in supporting large enterprise environments by administering and maintaining Microsoft operating systems servers, virtual environment and SAN systems.

Responsibilities

Experience/Skills

    Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with client and project requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation to include rack diagrams, design documentation, processes/procedures, environment diagrams, etc.
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems and manage roles such as file, print, web services (IIS), DHCP, SQL, etc.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures in accordance with contract and DoD standards.
  • Perform systems monitoring to verify availability and integrity of hardware and server resources.
  • Configure, support, and perform backup operations as needed to include the creation of backup policies and schedules.
  • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
  • Experience scanning and remediating vulnerabilities found in an enterprise computing environment
  • Ability to develop scripts to resolve issues on remote endpoints based on vulnerability scan findings
  • Experience working with DISA STIGs and SCAP tool to perform configuration analysis and remediation on managed systems
  • Experience administering SharePoint site collection resources, Site Collection Management/Administration within Microsoft SharePoint Online
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Experience implementing, managing, and supporting production environments using VMWare ESXi/vCenter Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Excellent application integration troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose system problems
  • Ability to document the environment and maintain updates to baseline documentation
  • Ability to document knowledge base articles to provide solutions for known issues to other team members
  • Strong experience supporting Windows 10/11 desktop and Windows 2016, 2019 and 2022 server systems in a production environment
  • Experience working with 3rd party ticketing software in a support desk environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong customer facing skills
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with the customer, technical staff, managers, peers and teaming partners

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • CommVault and Veritas backup software support and configuration
  • Experience supporting a VMware ESXi enterprise environment consisting of multiple sites and hosts.
  • Experience with other industry virtualization hypervisors a plus
  • Experience working with Directory Resource Administration (DRA) software within a DoD environment.
  • Experience configuring and implementing Windows Deployment Services in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Juniper and Cisco networking technologies a plus
  • Knowledge of general networking concepts preferred
  • VMware certifications a plus (VCA, VCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and WMI is preferred
  • Knowledge of general data storage concepts preferred
  • Working knowledge of HPE 3PAR Storage systems a plus
  • Working knowledge of layer 2 and 3 network principles preferred
  • Experience supporting a DoD environment preferred
  • Microsoft certifications preferred
  • Experience with SolarWinds monitoring software preferred
  • Experience with Tenable Security Center a plus
  • Experience with DISA HBSS products a plus
Qualifications
  • Physical demands associated with this position include walking, bending over, stooping, lifting, & carrying heavy materials and objects (up to 30 lbs.)
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and be capable of operating a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to work at heights from a ladder to reach cables and devices installed in ceilings and hard to reach places.
  • Must be able to operate network test equipment, AV equipment, use power tools, and work at heights using ladders.
  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable.

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is required or the ability to obtain a minimum of an Interim Secret clearance.
  • Minimum DoD 8140 IAT-II (Sec+ CE) certification required
