Responsibilities

Responsible for reviewing patient accounts to ensure accurate reimbursement per financial policies. Provides resource information for resolution of patient responsibility; works with facility and corporate leadership to ensure that credit policy is met for all programs and services provided by organization.Provides financial counseling and assistance to patients regarding medical bills. Acts as the liaison between patients and their insurance companies; often coordinating payments and answering questions from both parties. Works daily with Case Management, Business office, Chief Financial Officer and vendor contracts.Verifies and assures all accounts are ready for billing with adequate supporting documentation, within the established time frames. Serves as support to patients, physician offices and central billing office on pre-admit and pre-services financial requirements.Educate patients about payment options and financial assistance. Determines and provides discount for prompt pay in accordance with established LHS guidelines.


Qualifications

Requirements

Minimum: High School Diploma; GED equivalent

Desired: 2 years post High School Education; Notary License.

2 Years hospital patient accounting or financial counseling, medical terminology. Bilingual preferred

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word and Excel. Ability to read and evaluate credit reports.
