Position Overview

Position Summary: The College of Education and Technology at Eastern New Mexico University invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Counseling The position provides the successful applicant the opportunity to teach counseling courses using distant ed technologies, mentorship and advise students in the counseling program, and join a dynamic and engaged faculty. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate courses in counseling
  • Advise students effectively
  • Engage in scholarly activities
  • Maintain appropriate service to the department, college and university, including service on department, college, and university committees
  • Assist with the departmental recruitment and retention efforts
  • Seek and obtain extramural funding to support teaching and research
  • Collaboratively work with members of department, college, and university
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. required in Counselor Education or related field (ABD will be considered) and a minimum of three years of experience as a counselor.
  • Hold an independent license in counseling and be eligible for professional practice in New Mexico or be able to obtain a NM license.
  • School counseling experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Distance education learning platforms, clinical counseling, supervision of practicums and internships.
  • Advising students and student organizations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Clear plans for active research program.
Candidates must have the ability to work well in a collegial setting and willingness to teach using traditional and distance education (online and other) technologies
Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
