The Department of Radiology at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is seeking applicants for a full-time Diagnostic Medical Physicist to join our expanding service as an open rank faculty member. The successful candidate will participate in acceptance, annual, and routine quality assurance testing of imaging equipment located at a variety of sites throughout the health system; teach diagnostic radiology residents, medical students, medical physics students and residents, and undergraduate and graduate courses in the Radiological Sciences and Medical Physics programs; and participate in scholarly work to include independent research, quality improvement projects, and process improvement initiatives.

As a faculty member in the Medical Physics, you will join a highly valued team of five medical physicists, two residents, and one fellow, and be a critical member of the diagnostic team (technologists, physicists, and radiologists). You will have several opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and researchers within the health system and throughout the broader campus to improve imaging technologies, develop quantitative imaging and artificial intelligence programs, and advance radiation science and nuclear medicine. In addition, New Mexico provides a wonderful opportunity for advancing research by working collegially with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories. The faculty member will be expected to teach in our CAMPEP-accredited Imaging Residency within Radiology and CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Graduate Program in Nuclear Engineering.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for clinical medical physics; educating the next generation of medical physicists, radiologists, technologists, and medical students; and advancing imaging science. Candidates must have M.S. in Medical Physics or a related field with a Ph.D. preferred. Applicants should be American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified or board eligible in diagnostic medical physics by the contract start date. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* M.S. in Medical Physics or related field from an accredited college or university

* ABR eligible in Diagnostic Medical Physics by date of hire.

* Completed an imaging physics residency or at least 3 years working as a Medical Physicist in an academic medical center or hospital-based system

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience at an academic medical center

* Nuclear Medicine experience and certification

* Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field from an accredited college or university

* ABR certified in Diagnostic Medical Physics

* Prior experience teaching residents or graduate students

* MQSA qualified
